In terms of fretboard lengths, I’d recommend a scale length from 21 inches to 24.6 inches. This size will feel more comfortable for smaller players and makes it easier to reach around the fretboard.

Full-size guitars may be too large for small-handed players too. This makes them harder for smaller players to hold, so maybe choose a ¾ size.

I also think nylon string guitars are easier for smaller hands. Steel strings create more tension and have a sharper feel, so they wear on small hands quicker. Alternatively, nylon strings have a much softer feel, with less tension, which makes them easier for small hands to hold down.

Each of these factors also has distinct effects on the guitar’s overall sound too, so you might have to sacrifice some comfort for a more appropriate sound.
