UPPEL Multifunctional Bicycle Bluetooth Speaker, 10-in-1 LED Light Power Bank Bike Horn Microphone Ideal for Road & Mountain Bike - Extreme & Casual Cycling

We know that cycling is a popular sport for many people, especially in the summer. Cycling is a great way to get in shape and stay healthy while enjoying the outdoors. Biking is also economical and can get you places at an easy pace.

Whether you cycle for your commute to work, or just for a bit of fun at the weekends, why not bring the best Bluetooth speaker along for the ride.

This post looks at the best Bluetooth speakers for bikes. The key considerations here are dirt and water resistance, battery life, volume, controls and attaching functions.

The way the speaker attaches to the bike is important, as you want to make sure it’s attached securely and won’t fall off from bumps in the road.

The second important factor for bicycle speakers is their controls. When you’re cycling, you want an easy and safe way to skip songs, change the volume or play and pause. Different speakers have unique designs for how these things are controlled. We’ve made sure all these are safe to use from a bike.

Also volume is important, cycling can be a noisy activity, particularly at speed, so you’ll want to make sure you get a speaker with enough volume to overcome these interferences. Durability is also important, in case the speaker does fall off your bike.

If you’re looking for the best Bluetooth speaker in general (not just for cycling) then have a look at our other post!

I tested 7 products and found the Uppel Bike Speaker to be the best Bluetooth bike speaker.

Uppel Bike Speaker

This speaker is ideal for cycling! This cycling accessory is different to most of the other speakers on this list. Not only is it a Bluetooth speaker (with pretty decent sound quality) but it’s also a phone mount, bell, light, and fm radio all in one. If you’re looking for Bluetooth bike speakers with extra functionality, then this is the gadget for you! It even includes a built-in power bank with up to 30 hours charge!

This is the ultimate accessory for cyclists and bike journeys. Whether you’re just commuting to work, or going on a massive cycling tour, this device will not let you down.

I love cycling. In fact, I don’t own a car. Because the bicycle is my main form of transport, I understand what factors are important. Whether you are cycling for fun or commuting, a portable bike speaker can help make journeys more entertaining. I think it’s much safer to use a Bluetooth bicycle speaker, rather than headphones when cycling. Headphones can block out external noise, which can be dangerous when cycling as you may not hear cars or pedestrians.

Using portable bike speakers is a safe way to listen to music, podcasts, or the radio, whilst you cycle to work, or wherever you are going.

portable bike speakers

I chose the Uppel Bike Speaker as the best bike speaker on the market. This gadget is made for cyclists!

The Uppel bike speaker is the best speaker accessory for cycling. It’s great for those long rides because you can strap your phone in, and use maps right from the handlebars. This is safer than having to pull your phone out all the time. It’s perfect for music and podcast lovers, with an excellent Bluetooth connectivity range. A really cool feature of this product is its remote control.

This removable device can be attached closer to your hands, so you don’t even have to take your hands off the handlebars to change the track! This hands-free functionality is expanded with a built-in microphone, so you can effortlessly take calls

The Uppel Bike Speaker is a great cycling accessory for those who want to combine their love of music with their love of cycling.

This speaker is great for cycling, however, it is over-designed to use as a Bluetooth speaker when you’re not cycling. If you’re looking for a speaker to use on and off the bike, I’d recommend something like the JBL Clip 3, which is more multi-purpose than the Uppel.

Alternatively, if the Clip 3 is too small for your liking, I’d recommend the Avantree Cyclone Bike Speakers. These are some of the best bike speakers in terms of bass, battery size, and affordability. These speakers use multiple internal speaker cones which create almost a surround sound effect. Also, the bike mount is super sturdy and will keep the speaker firmly attached to the bike

Choosing a Speaker:

There are tonnes of Bluetooth speakers on the market, a staggering amount.

Narrowing your search is the best place to start. Think about what features you find important, these may be different for everybody. Make sure you choose a portable speaker with all the features you need. If you think you’d like to take phone calls from the portable speaker then make sure it has a built-in microphone.

When it comes to speakers for cycling, I think there are a few important things to consider. See the end of this document for full details.

Water / Dust Proof Rating:

There’s more info on this at the end of the article, but check the speaker’s IP Rating. This measurement describes how resistant the device is to water and dust.

The higher the number, the better the resistance. The first number is dirt, the second number is water. So IP18 has the lowest dirt resistance and the highest water resistance.

Product Info:

If you want a bike speaker with beastly bass, this is a perfect choice for those looking to enjoy the sound quality of their music.

These portable bike speakers feature a frequency response range from 100 Hz to 20kHz, so you won’t be missing any details. This high-quality sound system has excellent connectivity options, and passive resonance membrane technology to increase the bass.

With 10W of speaker power, these Bluetooth bike speakers will be plenty loud enough for cycling, and won’t be drowned out by wind, rain, or traffic.

This bike speaker packs an IPX4 rating, making it splash-proof, but not fully waterproof. So don’t drop it in the water! It also doesn’t support dust or dirt resistance, so avoid fine grains as they can penetrate the housing and affect the sound quality. For the most part, this speaker should survive cycling in rough conditions, just not a sand storm!

Not only can you play songs via Bluetooth, but this speaker also has an SD-Card slot for loading music from a memory card. It also has an AUX input to connect to the speaker with a cable if your device doesn’t have Bluetooth. The rechargeable battery is easily charged with a USB port connector.

The handy NFC pairing mode lets you connect to the phone instantly, without having to fiddle around in your phone’s settings. This is a nice feature that isn’t seen on many portable speakers and saves a lot of time when you’ve got to ride to work quickly. If you want to quickly connect with a Bluetooth-enabled device, this feature is the way to go.

Cyclone Bike Speaker

With 40 hours of standby time and 6 hours of music playback, this speaker will last a fair amount of cycling time. The Bluetooth connectivity was strong and we had no issues staying connected. The bike mounting attachment was super sturdy and there are no doubts that it wouldn’t hold the speaker.

Overall, Avantree’s Cyclone speaker is a loud, powerful speaker with a decent battery time. Its IPX4 splash-proof rating means that it is protected from accidental splashes and spills, so it’s great for the outdoors.

It’s not the most weatherproof speaker, but for the price, these bicycle speakers have excellent sound quality and make for a fantastic cycling companion.

Pros & Cons:

  • Loud bass and clean low end.
  • Long 6hr+ battery time.
  • NFC Pairing mode for instant Bluetooth connection.

With a handy clip to attach it to anything, this lightweight, wireless speaker is perfect for cycling as you can just clip it onto the bike and ride away. This is one of the best bike speakers for cyclists looking for a small, durable, and portable speaker with fantastic sound quality.

With an IPX7 protection rating, the Clip 3 will survive the most severe, wet weather situations. In fact, the waterproofing on this speaker is so strong it can withstand being fully submerged, which is great if you accidentally cycle into a river!

It doesn’t have a dust or dirt protection rating though, so be careful of sand and mud.

It’s pocket-sized and ultra-portable, so it adds hardly any weight to your journey. It has a clear and loud sound, although it lacks bass compared to bigger models. If you’re looking for a more low-end heavy sound, it might be worth looking at some larger models. The JBL Flip 5 could be a great choice for more bass.
We were really impressed with the build and sound quality. This rivals much more expensive speakers in terms of quality and volume. The durability of this speaker felt excellent, with a rigid metal casing that feels like it would survive being dropped from a bike.

Overall, if you’re looking for a small, waterproof Bluetooth speaker to take on your cycling journeys, we can’t recommend the Clip 3 enough. This waterproof speaker will easily survive even the wettest rides, and has an admirable sound quality, battery life, and is super portable! What to Look for in a bike Bluetooth speaker?

Battery Life:

This is an obvious one, but make sure you choose a speaker which has a long enough battery life for your journeys. On average, I’d recommend choosing one with at least 4 hours of playtime. This will be enough for a commute to and from work. Although in an ideal world I’d recommend choosing one with 8+ hours so you don’t have to charge it every day.

Mounting:

Not all portable speakers have a bike mount system. I chose speakers for this list based on their mounting capabilities. All of these are easy to connect to bikes or backpacks. If you look elsewhere for a portable bike speaker then double-check it has the right mounting tools!

Controls:

Not all speakers have the same control options. I think for cycling, the safest bet is to choose a speaker which has built-in control buttons. This way you don’t have to worry about pulling your phone out of your pocket when you want to change a song or turn the volume up or down. It’s much easier to just push a couple of buttons on the speaker, rather than risking your control of the bike to pull your phone out.

Even better than button controls are mic-activated abilities. Some speakers have a feature that lets them be controlled by voice through their built-in mic. Although this may not work well in loud cycling conditions.

IP Ratings

Dirtproof is equally important as water for biking. Dust can ruin speakers. Biking is dusty. Get a speaker with a high dirt resistance IP

IP Ratings are given like “IP78”

The first number describes its resistance to dirt and solids. The second number indicates its resistance to water and liquids. IP ratings are given in numbers from one to eight, with one being the least resistant and 8 offering the most protection.

I’d recommend buying a device with at least 5 or 6 on the waterproof rating for biking. Dustproofing isn’t so essential unless you’re going to use the portable speaker for mountain biking or on the beach. In any case, the better proofing a speaker has, the tougher situations it can endure.

FAQ

What’s the best battery life for portable bike speakers?

The battery life for the best bicycle speakers depends on what kind of rides you are going on. The best one will be different for everyone.

You need to think about how long you will be cycling before you get an opportunity to charge the bicycle speaker.

Long battery life is great, but it usually comes at the cost of weight and size. A bicycle speaker with long battery life is generally heavier and larger than one with a shorter life.

If you’re only going for short rides, you’ll probably only need to buy a speaker with medium battery life. In general, I recommend choosing 6-8 hours. I think this length will suit most people. This is the sweet spot between size and battery life.

How loud are Bluetooth bike speakers?

It varies between models, but on average bike speakers usually have a max output of around 80-100 decibels. You’ll be able to find the specific decibel output on the product pages.

Speakers below 80dB might be a bit too quiet for some cycling situations, particularly around busy traffic or high wind and gravel conditions.

Some speakers can sync to other speakers, this is a great way to boost the volume, or spread the sound across multiple bikes.

Many factors affect how loud your Bluetooth speaker will be. The volume of the music you’re playing, the distance between you and your speaker, and the audio file’s quality all factor into how loud the speakers will sound.

Conclusion

One Touch Bell

Our top pick of the best Bluetooth bike speakers is the Uppel Bike Speaker.
