This is made by guitarists, for guitarists. And it really shows. This has all the features a guitarist would need, including a backrest, footrest, and guitar stand. These fold down quickly which makes them great for buskers and traveling performers. They may not be as stable as a traditional, fixed stool type, but this is made up for in the convenience and comfort offered in their other features.

I’ve played guitar for over 10 years now. Only in the last few years have I bought a proper guitar stool, and what a life-changing decision it was.

Any guitarist will know how annoying an ordinary chair is to play guitar in. Sitting in the wrong place can be a real pain, both literally and mentally.

Buying a proper guitar stool helped me to perfect my posture, which in turn improved my playing technique and skill. I can practice for longer without getting achy, and having such a comfortable chair minimizes distractions and lets you focus purely on playing and learning guitar.

There are a few different styles of guitar stools on this list. You will see a few different styles. Each type is more suited to different use cases. Some are fixed by stable, others are light and portable. Some come with built-in guitar stands, others come with footrests and backrests.

The best choice really depends on what you feel most comfortable with. If you’re somebody who gets an achy back quickly, a backrest is key! If you’re a little on the short side, a footrest and height adjustment will be important for your comfort.

Guitar Chair Vs Regular Chair Or Stool – What’s The Difference?

A guitar chair is a chair that has been specifically designed to be used by guitar players. Guitar chairs can be made of either metal or wood and are usually made with a backrest and armrests. Guitar chairs make it easier for the player to play their instrument because they allow the player to sit comfortably, and encourage the proper guitar playing posture.

A regular chair or stool is a chair that does not have any special features that make it easier for guitar players to use. Regular chairs are usually not made with a backrest or armrests and do not allow the player to play their instrument at an angle that is more suitable for using guitars.

The Benefits of Guitar Practice Chairs

Using custom guitar practice chairs is always a better option than a standard chair.

  • Helps you stay in position and maintain good posture while playing guitar
  • Keeps you from getting tired and sore after long hours of playing.
  • Designed for guitar, nothing gets in the way.
  • Gives you a comfortable place to rest your guitar while not in use.

Buyers Guide: How to choose a stool as per your requirements

What to look for when buying a guitar stool.

Stability: Not all guitar stools are created equally. Stability is an important factor for many players, as a wobbling chair can be a nightmare mid-performance. Higher stability usually comes at a higher cost, so it’s really down to how much money you can afford to spend. If you are ok with a basic, wobbly model, you can pick them up cheap. However, if you want a super reliable, rock-solid guitar stool, you might need to invest a bit more. It’s definitely worth getting a more stable, durable stool in the long run. It’s better for your posture and muscles and will last longer.

Height Adjustment: Some guitar chairs come with height adjustment capabilities. This is always a helpful feature and ensures you can set the height of the chair for perfect comfort. Adjustable chairs are usually more expensive, but definitely worth the cash if you can afford it. You don’t want to get stuck with the wrong-sized chair!

Portability: You can find some guitar stools that are portable, usually folding down into a small, carryable size. These are great for buskers or jam sessions on the go. Although foldable, portable guitar stools are often less stable than fixed ones, which is worth thinking about.

I’d say for most players portability won’t be a central factor, so buying a heavier, sturdier stool is probably the best idea. If you are a busker or travel a lot with your guitar, a portable stool might be a stronger choice.

Footrest: Some guitar stools come with a built-in footrest. Whether you think you need one really is a matter of personal opinion and preferences. Having a footrest will usually set you back some extra cash, but is definitely worth it for some players.

Construction Quality and Weight: Typically, the sturdier a stool is, the heavier it will weigh. You need to find the best balance between lightness and strength. Stronger materials make for a sturdier, more durable stool, but also increase the weight making it less portable. The best balance depends on how you plan on using it.

FAQ’s

How tall should a guitar stool be?

A guitar stool should be the same height as a normal chair. This will allow for both feet to be firmly on the ground and also allow for a lot of stability. The stool should not be too high or too low, which would make it difficult to play the guitar.

The height of a guitar stool needs to be at least as tall as the player’s waist. Generally anywhere in the region of 20-24” is a good starting point.

Why is posture so important when playing or practicing guitar?

Good posture is important for a few reasons. First of all, it can help your guitar playing technique. Secondly, it can prevent injury, and lastly, it can make you feel better about yourself.

The guitar is a difficult instrument to play without good posture because of the weight of the instrument and the fact that you have to support its weight. If you don’t have good posture when playing or practicing the guitar, then this could lead to injury on your neck and back from having to support too much weight on these areas of your body.

What type of chair is good for guitar?

There are different types of chairs that you can use for playing guitars. Some people prefer to sit in a chair with a straight back and others like to use a rocking chair. There are also some people who enjoy sitting in a recliner while practicing their guitar.

Some people may not know what type of chair is the best to use when holding a guitar. It is up to the individual preference and how they feel most comfortable when sitting and playing their instrument.

Personally, I’d recommend avoiding anything with armrests, like a standard office chair. You want to have unrestricted movement for your elbows. Chairs with armrests tend to get in the way of the guitar and make it awkward to play.

What makes a good guitar stool?

There are a few factors that go into making a great guitar stool.
Here is what I think is important:
Stability: The stool should be stable and not move around when playing. Some cheaper stools can feel a little unstable and wobbly, which can be distracting when you’re trying to jam!

Comfort: You want to be able to sit on your stool for hours on end without getting aches and pains. A comfortable chair is essential for long practice sessions. This includes the material of the seat. I find plastic seats are less comfortable and end up making you sweaty. Fabric and other soft materials are more comfortable and breathable.

Footrest: In an ideal world, the stool should include some kind of footrest. This makes your overall posture better and increases comfort.

Backrest: I think a backrest is very important if you’re planning on using the chair for long periods of time. Having a backrest lets you take the strain off your back muscles when you lean into it. I find using stools without a backrest eventually makes your back hurt after a couple of hours.

Conclusion

No products found.

Overall, I thought the best guitar stool was the No products found.!

This has all the extra bells and whistles a guitarist needs. Why use a standard chair or stool when you can use a Fender-approved, guitar-specific chair. With the backrest, footrest, and guitar stand, this really goes above and beyond.
